PRINCETON ARTS SOCIETY
SHARON JORDAN BAHOSH
I
have developed my own style of painting over time. Evolving, it turns out to
be a spirited spontaneous emotional response to my subject. I paint "plein
air" landscapes, unemcumbered and directly. I apply the paint to canvas
considering the atmosphere and a real sense of place. I use painterly stokes
and combine intense color compliments, focused drawing skills and perspective.
My goal is to draw the viewer into the very level I was on the moment the painting
was conceived and created. I treat my portrait work with the same enthusiasm
and reverence. Painting "alla prima" I deliberately move across the
face picking up all the nuances of form and light, color and life, I look at
the character of my subject with the intent of describing his or her very being.
In their eyes remarkably is the windows to the soul. My results are a pensive
gesture of time stood still. My passion for art, the adulation I have for what
God has created and a genuine love of applying paint to canvas is what inspires
me.
My art career spans 27 years. I
studied fine arts at the Art Institue of Boston. After, as a young entrepreneur,
I launched "The Gallery" in my home town of Clinton MA in the 1970's.
I have maintained a gallery, a showplace for my originals ever since solely
making art my career. The "Color My World" gallery in Lancaster MA
is where I conduct business today. I have earned recognition and 41 awards in
national and regional competition. I traveled to Russia selected by merit to
tour and show art with seven other artist in 1994. I have had notable portrait
clients over my long career which hang in public and private collections. My
Spirit filled religious works hang in church collections where it touches me
most to see others in prayer before paintihngs that I have created! In addition
to collections in church and public venues other work is included in collections
by corporate, institution and people of every walk of life. In the 1990's I
studied with Daniel Greene and Charlotte Wharton and at St. Michael's Institute
of Sacred Art. Memberships include Academic Artist, The Northshore Art Association,
The Priceton Art Society and The Portrait Society of America. My work has been
published by Marian Heath Greeting Cards and The Yankee Golfer Magazine among
others. Profiles of mine have been included in Who's Who of Upcoming Young Americans,
Artists of New England and Arts Around Boston among others. I am represented
currently by Arts Unlimited South Hadley. New work can always be found at the
"Color My World" Gallery where the creation begins. It is open to
the public to peruse year round.
